Discover the most beautiful works of art in the Mobilier National’s old and contemporary collections.
After being closed for more than 30 years, the site opened its doors again in 2007. Created at the start of the 20th century by famous architect Jean-Camille Formigié, this Napoleon III-style building was originally intended to display the work of national manufacturers.
During temporary exhibitions, the public can once again discover the designs of these great workshops, as well as the collections of the Mobilier National (official French repository of furniture and decorative objects); the Galerie des Gobelins (Gobelins gallery) also presents contemporary achievements. Ancient tapestries, silks, porcelain and furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries are housed alongside works by current artists. And so artists from the past and present are eventually united!
