In amongst a cluster of 17th and 18th century buildings, a house stands over the vines and opens out onto a wide view over the Seine valley.
Built on the site of Renoir's old studio, the museum introduces visitors to Montmartre during its heyday.
Paintings, posters and sheets of music illustrate the artistic energy that filled the local cabarets. Three gardens directly inspired by Renoir's works surround the museum.
The Renoir Gardens also offer breathtaking views over the Clos Montmartre vineyard and the northern cityscape of Paris beyond.
They were reconstructed in memory of Auguste Renoir, the impressionist painter who lived here between 1876 and 1877. Here he painted several masterpieces including Dance at Le Moulin de la Galette and The Swing.
All year round, daily between 10 am and 7 pm. 25th December and 1st January : 11:30 am to 6 pm.
Nighttime visits every wednesday in July and August until 10 pm.
Café Renoir: open Wednesday to Sunday from 11.30 am to 6 pm.
Price applied : Children €3.50 (ages 6–18).
