Musée de la vie romantique

The heart and soul of Romanticism, an artistic movement of the 19th century, is recreated for you in a bucolic setting, a former cultural and intellectual centre initiated by Ary Scheffer.

In order to recreate the atmosphere of this artistic cenacle, the historical and harmonious setting of the house was designed by the famous decorator Jacques Garcia. Part of the collection is dedicated to George Sand. Furniture, jewellery, paintings... you will discover here one of the largest collections of pieces belonging to the writer. But also works of the owner of the place: the painter Ary Scheffer, without forgetting those of their contemporaries.
