A furnished château, with the Assembly flat decorated with superb rocaille woodwork.
The 14th century castle has been home to illustrious people over the years, who have gradually transformed it into a pleasure residence acquired by Louis XVI. It is framed by a regular garden known as "à la française", composed of canals and six islands, and an English garden laid out in the second half of the 18th century. In this green setting, discover two exceptional places: the Chaumière aux Coquillage, built by the Duke of Penthièvre for the Princess of Lamballe between 1779 and 1780, has one of the most beautiful mother-of-pearl and seashell decorations in Europe. Nearby, the Queen's Dairy, built at the request of Louis XVI for Marie-Antoinette, houses the sculpted group "Amalthée et la Nymphe", by Pierre Julien.
