Here you can admire the iconic painting Impression, Sunrise.
Located in a private mansion close to the Trocadéro, the museum houses a rich collection of works donated by Claude Monet's second son. A new 200 m² area dedicated to Monet's work provides an opportunity to admire his paintings inspired by the Normandy coast, his garden in Giverny and his time in London.
Amongst the other works on display by artists such as Manet, Renoir, Sisley and Pissarro, is a beautiful collection of oil paintings, watercolours, pastels and drawings by Berthe Morisot, the 'Grande dame' of Impressionism.
Spotlight on Napoleon
The museum owes its existence to Paul Marmottan (1856–1932) who bequeathed his large art collection and private mansion to the Académie des Beaux-Arts.
Most of this collection is dedicated to the First Empire and nearly every form of artistic expression is represented: paintings, drawings, prints, miniatures, medals, sculptures, furniture, bronzes, porcelain and more.
