Less than an hour from Paris, this 16th-century château and its 150-hectare park are home to a thousand animals and offer a break from the norm.
At Thoiry, you will find:
A castle: The furnished rooms tell the story of its famous residents, such as Machault of Arnouville, naval minister of Louis XV. Costumed guides lead the tours and regale you with family anecdotes. A booklet with puzzles makes the tour fun for younger visitors.
Remarkable gardens: Autumn garden, perfume garden, rose garden, French flowerbeds, English garden... Thousands of trees and flowering plants bloom with the seasons and captivate you with their colours and scents.
A zoo and African reserve: Zebras, giraffes, elephants, bison, bears and lions... The animals roam freely through the African reserve. Thoiry Park lets you admire these wild animals in an unusual way – you drive around the pathways like you're on safari! A little further away but still within the Thoiry site, the zoo is home to even more animals, which you can view in their vast enclosure from walkways and glass tunnels. Help to feed the wolves and tigers every day at 16:00.
Activities: Children will take away unforgettable memories from the mini-farm and the interactive maze. And not forgetting the Mysterious Island adventure trail – a giant rabbit warren with sound effects and a large climbing frame with slides.
