Barbizon school museum: the Ganne Inn

This museum is housed on two sites and captures the everyday life of the plein air painters.

The Auberge Ganne recreates the atmosphere of this period, thanks to its furnishings and décor painted by the artists during their time here. The permanent collections contain around 100 works by less well-known artists of the 19th century as well as paintings by artists including Jean-François Millet, Narcisse Diaz de la Peña and Rosa Bonheur.

The museum's second site, located in the home and studio of Théodore Rousseau, houses temporary exhibitions.

Opening and closing times

From 01/01 to 30/06 Opening hours on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 10 am and 12.30 pm and between 2 pm and 5.30 pm. Closed on Tuesday. Closed exceptionally on January 1st and May 1st.

From 01/07 to 31/08 Opening hours on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 10 am and 12.30 pm and between 2 pm and 6 pm. Closed on Tuesday.

From 01/09 to 31/12 Opening hours on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 10 am and 12.30 pm and between 2 pm and 5.30 pm. Closed on Tuesday. Closed exceptionally on December 25th.
