The musée Maillol now houses the most important collection of works of the artist exhibited along a newly designed route and showcases a complete panorama of his sculptural creations, as well as his paintings, drawings, baked clay and tapestry works.
Near Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the building that houses the museum, decorated on its façade with "The Fountain of the Four Seasons" - a famous monument by the sculptor Bouchardon - was built in the 18th century on land belonging to the Récollets convent. The museum has an important collection of works by Aristide Maillol, who reinvented modern sculpture in his time. When he died, Dina Vierny, the artist's model and collaborator during the last ten years of his life, decided to dedicate a museum to him. Today, the tour presents a complete panorama of his creation: his sculptures, but also his paintings, drawings, terracottas and tapestries. Each year, the museum presents two major temporary exhibitions.
