The Napoleonic saga of Montereau

  • Discovery

A one-day visit to Montereau, in the steps of Napoleon.

Morning: lecture on Napoleonic History in Montereau given by a historian. Followed by a coach tour in the footsteps of Napoleon through the city, scene of his last victory. The tour allows you to see various symbols of the passage of the Emperor: la Maison du boulet in Tournebride, the Belvédère in Surville, the Dragon Bleu in Forges, the Monument des Gendarmes in Montereau and various bridges including one with an equestrian statue of Napoleon, one of the few in France with those of Cherbourg and Ajaccio.

Lunch in a Napoleon style restaurant in town where you will discover the Emperor's favourite dishes.

Afternoon: unguided tour of the exhibition on Napoleon at the Musée de la Faïence and its model of 3,000 figures. This exhibition presents the fighting of the Battle of Montereau with sound recovery and a rich display of period costumes. A documentary evokes the historical context and daily life in Montereau at the time.
