L'Isle-Adam has welcomed many artists, seduced by the town's charm and the valley of the river Oise, including Jules Dupré, figurehead of the Oise river art movement.
Discover his key works in the permanent collections of the museum. The effects of light, significant smearing of the painting materials – this style of landscape
painting, in the open air, also practised by Rousseau, Daubigny, Corot and then Van Gogh, shows the basic premises of impressionism. The museum also holds two temporary exhibitions each year.
