With 32.3 million hotel arrivals, Paris Region consolidates its place as one of the world's top tourist destinations in an economically difficult climate. 2013 therefore constitutes a benchmark year in terms of tourist arrivals for the Paris Region destination.
Nearly 15.5 million visitors came from abroad. This is an exceptional figure and the highest for 10 years: an incredible rise of 8.2% in terms of international visitors compared to 2012.

Among these clientèle, it's worth noting:
• a spectacular increase in Chinese clientèle: + 52.6% (for the first time, the Chinese are becoming the most regular Asian visitors to the destination ahead of the Japanese)
• a strong increase in clientèle from the Near and Far-East: + 20.7%
• a significant increase in American clientèle: + 15.7%
• an increase of 5.2% British visitors, the top international clientèle of the destination with more than 2.1 million arrivals
In a difficult economic climate, the fall in arrivals by French clientèle, which began in 2012, has been strongly felt again (- 7.5%).
When asked on 3 and 4 March, 69%, French tourism professionals, however, said that they expect an improvement in business for the medium-term in 2014.
