Provins, medieval town, 1 hour away from Paris
In the 12th and 13th centuries, Provins has reached its peak with the Champagne Fairs. These fairs used to attract merchants from all over Europe, making Provins the key trade venue and one of the most powerful cities of the kingdom.
Today Provins is ranked in the World Heritage of the UNESCO and it attests to this period with a heritage which has remained intact and authentic: ramparts, dungeon, churches, underground passages, old houses, vaulted low-ceiling rooms… The city has 58 ranked or registered historic monuments, a true conservation area of civil, military and religious architecture.
Daily medieval shows, workshops and tours as well as many events animate the medieval town and invite to a real journey to the Middle Ages! The reception service of the Tourist Office proposes to organise your stay in Provins with a customised follow-up on your file, tailored reactivity of programs, service providers and quality food services.
