To mark the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence, Visit Paris Region has launched a thematic itinerary highlighting the historical, cultural and heritage ties that have connected France and America for more than two centuries.
With its“America250: Following America’s Footsteps” itinerary, Visit Paris Region invites visitors to explore the Franco-American legacy through a selection of iconic sites across Paris and the Île-de-France region.
The route highlights key locations associated with major historical figures such as Benjamin Franklin and Marquis de Lafayette, as well as symbols of the long-standing friendship between France and the United States, including several versions of the Statue of Liberty found throughout Paris.
The itinerary also features memorial sites, such as the American Monument in Meaux and the Suresnes American Cemetery, alongside cultural institutions and landmark addresses reflecting the American influence in the region, from Shakespeare and Company to the American Library in Paris.
The initiative forms part of America250, a programme of exhibitions, cultural events and commemorations celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence, offering new opportunities for international visitors and group travel programmes.
