The Coronavirus pandemic that is currently affecting the entire world has created a major negative impact in all areas of the Chinese economy, with the tourism sector being especially affected. Outbound tourism has practically ground to a halt and international group travel from China has been banned since 27th January in order to stop the spread of this virus.
In 2019 France was the most visited European destination for Chinese tourists.
The Chinese clientele, with 946,000 stays in 2019, is 2nd on the list of international long-haul markets, just behind the American market.
With one of the highest budgets among the international clienteles that visit our destination (€1128) and an average length of stay of 5.9 nights, the Chinese market generated more than €1 billion in tourist revenue in 2019, putting it in 2nd place on the ranking of international clienteles.
Driven by rising salaries in China, shopping is the leading area for spend among Chinese tourists.
The France China Tourism workshop is a yearly gathering for professionals from the Chinese tourism industry and their counterparts in the French incoming sector.
A return of Chinese tourism to France is still dependent on the reopening of borders, as well as the relaunch of tourism visa services and international flights. It is nevertheless important to maintain a link with Chinese travel agents and tour operators: This is the reason why Atout France has developed a specific digital version of this event for the Chinese market.
Our destination should already be preparing to welcome back the first Chinese visitors of the post-Covid-19 era.
The Paris Region Tourist Board and The Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau have decided to support French suppliers that would like to participate in the digital version of France China Tourism.
Description of the 2020 edition:
This event will take place across 7 days and 3 source markets (Continental China, Hong Kong and Taiwan).
Due to the time differences meetings will take place from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM in France (or 03:30 PM to 06:30 PM in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan) – a total of 3 hours of workshop time per day. It is possible for suppliers to request to Atout France to take part in FCT solely for Continental China or alternatively to also take meetings in Hong Kong and Taiwan
A minimum of 25 pre-arranged and scheduled meetings lasting 20 minutes each with qualified tour operators and travel agents is guaranteed.
Meetings will be held in English.
