In response to the tourism climate emergency, NECSTouR has been a founding signatory of the Glasgow Declaration since 2021. Simultaneously the NECSTouR Climate Action Plan has been developed and is gradually being implemented into every action of our current and future work programme. Essentially the plan aims to support and accelerate climate action by European Regional Destinations.
As part of the plan’s third objective, we will test an approach to measure the impacts of the event, that allows us to pursue the next steps into a concrete event policy.
Please answer to our survey on our GA’s impact
How NECSTouR and Île-de-France will take care of the carbon footprint of the event?
The organisers will work hard to reduce our carbon footprint to the minimum and maximise positive contributions to the destination.
Just to highlight some best practices:
● The chosen event venue, the Conseil régional d’Ile-de-France is a new 2018 built complex that aims to be exemplary in terms of energy and water consumption.
● The event is being made inclusive and accessible to all by foreseeing the necessary equipment in the venue and along with study visits.
● Accessibility to the whole venues of the event and study visits will be possible on foot and using public transport
● The self-service bike rental of Île-de-France is available 24/7 from automatic kiosks in French, English and Spanish. Option to buy short-term tickets: 1 day or 1 week with Vélib’ Visit for immediate use or for use up to 15 days later Website | Google Play | App Store
● Recommended Hotels Certified with the EU Ecolabel are highlighted in the list above
How can you contribute? Your individual actions matter!
- We highly encourage you, if possible, to choose less polluting transportation when travelling from your destination. For example from Brussels, Paris is easily accessible by high-speed trains and intercity bus transfers.
- Once in Paris, use environmentally compatible, public means of transportation to travel to the event location, or walk.
- We have listed eco-labelled hotels to inspire you to choose for a greener option for your accommodation. Once in your accommodation, make the different and take advantage of the hotel environmental-friendly behaviour such as change of towels and bed linen only when needed, turn off all lights, and electronic equipment (TV, air condition system, heating, computer etc.) when you leave the hotel room.
- Even small actions can make a big difference. We encourage you to choose reusable bottles and recycle your waste carefully.
