Bibliothèque national François Mitterand

As the guardian of an exceptional heritage that it protects and embodies, the Bibliothèque nationale de France is a major institution and a source of culture for all audiences.

The BnF gathers and disseminates knowledge, preserves everything published in France to form a national collection, and ensures its conservation and communication in order to pass it on to future generations. Its collections, unique in the world, include more than 40 million documents of all types: 15 million books and journals, one of the finest collections of manuscripts in the world, 5 million photographs, prints, maps, plans, scores, coins, medals, theatre sets and costumes, sound and audiovisual documents, video games, and, since 2006, billions of files collected as part of the legal deposit of the French web.

The BnF contributes to national and international scientific activity through an active research policy. As a place of transmission and accessibility to knowledge, the Library offers exhibitions, events, workshops, visits, participative events, but also book editions, online conferences and podcasts.

The Reading/Culture pass, at a single rate of €15, valid for one year from date to date, offers many advantages, including free and unlimited access to the library for all publics, to exhibitions and to events (for a fee).

The National Library of France is accessible to people with disabilities through reception, access to resources, reading aids and adapted mediation services.

Even more knowledge awaits you in the museums and cultural sites in Paris Region.
