This masterpiece of contemporary architecture aims to desacralize Opera by offering a diverse range of shows catering for all audiences.
Opened in 1989 to mark the 200th anniversary of the storming of Bastille, part of the French revolution, the building designed by architect Carlos Ott features two large charcoal marble façades and glass to make the interior of the building more visible and highlight its accessibility.
With a total of 2700 seats, smooth acoustic sound, unique stage equipment, decorations and costumes and accessories, the Opéra Bastille is a great modern theatre and an international opera stage. Ballets, concerts, operas, theatre...this "opera open to all" offers an exceptional and very diverse programme. And this even for younger ones, as Opéra Bastille offers activities and shows created for children, to encourage them to grow a passion for music and dance.
