The Paris Region destination meets the world at Rendez-Vous en France in Clermont-Ferrand

On 1 and 2 April 2014, the 9th edition of the Rendez-Vous en France trade fair took place at the Grande Halle d’Auvergne in Clermont-Ferrand, organised by Atout France.

Rendez-vous en France is a major international trade fair organised by Atout France in our country. It's purpose is to allow all those involved in the French tourist industry to meet general and specialised tour operators from all over the world during pre-scheduled appointments spread over two days. In 2014, many more visitors (vs 888 in 2013) from sixty-two countries took part. With regards the exhibitors, a very large number of companies were present.  The delegation from the Paris Region were by far the most numerous with 128 participants. More than 22,000 meetings were organised and carried out over the two days. 

Ahead of the fair: 
The Paris Region Tourist Board organised a familiarization trip which enabled tour operators from Australia, Canada, USA and Russia to benefit from a programme based around the theme of "History and the Art of Living", organised in partnership with the Champagne-Ardenne Tourist Board.

Foreign professionals were also able to make the most of the Musée de la Grande Guerre de Meaux (77), a visit to Galeries Lafayette (75), a stroll at the Château de Malmaison (92), a soirée at the Mugler Follies cabaret (75) and a visit to the Hôtel national des Invalides - Musée de l'Armée (75).

During the fair:
The Paris Region Tourist Board have organised a major communications initiative designed to bring the attention of all professionals attending the campaign to the new destination brand, VisitParisRegion, launched on 3 December 2013:

  • The stand itself, new for this year, has been completely dedicated to presenting the new brand
  • The name-badge string given to all participants (visitors and exhibitors) were in the colours of VisitParisRegion
  • A flyer in the colours of the Paris Region Tourist Board were inserted in the welcome kit handed to all tour operators present.
  • The 100m2 bar installed in the Paris Region space was customised in Tourisme d'Histoire colours, the main theme chosen by the Paris Region Tourist Board in 2014. This significant involvement of the Paris Region Tourist Board provided the chance for a small event in the Paris Region zone, with all tour operators inundating the zone, thereby greatly increasing the number of opportunities to meet with exhibitors of the destination.

Project officers from the Paris Region Tourist Board's promotion department carried out more than 80 pre-scheduled meetings over the two-day workshop.

On the more institutional side, the Paris Region Tourist Board, represented by its Managing Director, François Navarro, had the opportunity to sign a partnership agreement between all the French regions and the organiser, Atout France, in the presence of its Managing Director, Christian Mantei, and the Chairman of the FNCRT, André Chapaveire.

In your diaries for 2015, Rendez-Vous en France will again take place in Paris Region on 31 March and 1 April, Porte de Versailles.
