Paris Region Business tourism department

A record year for business travel.

A rare positive note during a difficult 2016, business travel has continued to grow in 2017 with an increase of 7.7%.

Business trips generated 33.9 million hotel room nights, or 50.1% of total hotel occupancy.

The Paris Region confirms its position as the leading destination in Europe for business meetings and events. Following a difficult year in 2016 for the entire industry, tourism has grown in spectacular fashion in 2017, signaling its best performance in a decade in terms of visitor numbers. This rebound was partly due to the overall context but is equally the result of the unprecedented efforts made by travel trade professionals to win back visitor confidence.

The forecasts for 2018 are already extremely positive!

Travel trade professionals are backing up these trends for the beginning of this year. 51% of them consider that their business has been good during January and their reservations are good to very good for February. Forecasts for the medium term are equally positive: 66% of professionals surveyed even expect an improvement in their tourism business.
