Built for Louis XIV from 1678 to 1683 by Jean-Baptiste de La Quintinie and Jules Hardouin-Mansart and open to the public since 1991, Le Potager du roi offers many points of interest.

Considered as an historical monument since 1926 and located on the prestigious estate of the Palace of Versailles, it hosts throughout the yearvarious cultural events such as the Plastique, Danse, Flore festival, which offers the public an encounter with contemporary art during the Journées européennes du patrimoine or Saveurs du Potager, an event to promote diversity in the production of fruit and vegetables.

Housing the École nationale supérieure de paysage (National School of landscape design), the place is a true paradise for lovers of horticulture, in which you can discover countless trees and plants. About 400 varieties of fruit and vegetables, new and old, are cultivated by the gardeners of the Potager du roi, who use garden products certified for organic agriculture. About 30 tonnes of fruit and 20 tonnes of vegetables are produced every year!
