From the 14th-century to the 19th-century the castle was constantly changing. Originally constructed as a hunting lodge, for the King’s of France drawn to the forest and its fowl, it was then turned into a Manor House and finally transformed, by King Charles V, into a fortress with dikes, dungeons and towers.

These successive changes have brought about an impressive final result, making the Château de Vincennes one of the most important Medieval structures in Europe. Come and discover the rich history of the fortress. The cottages of the King and Queen, the Medieval Towers, the dungeon...

Big or small, all have their eyes wide open as they visit the chapel, imagining the battles that took place within the castle walls and the daily lives of the King’s who lived there.
